Now that I have your attention, I would like to briefly share my author struggle.
For the past six years I have been self-publishing on Amazon. I have been a part of an author's school or group now called "Self-Puplishing". It was previously "Self-Publishing School". The beauty of this group is that after about a year of instruction, must of us joined the advanced fiction group of several hundred aspiring authors from around the world. About thirty of us meet regularly two to three times per week on zoom under the tutleage of a six-figure self-published urban fantasy author. It has been enlightening to say the least. It'a non-chrisitan group representing all genres with one common goal to self-publish on Amazon. Some have had success and some have not. Those who have had the most success have learned to "write to market". This involves mastering several things. The first is finding a genre that mostly lines up with your stories and meeting the tropes of that genre. Being a born-again Christian, I write to the glory of God and to promote the Kingdom of Christ. This is who I am. So, my main genre is Christian and I will always be true to that calling but that is too broad a category. So after analyzing my story as to how it meshed with the market I decided that it was a Christian supernatural thriller dealing mostly with spiritual warfare which lines up with my favorite author Frank Peretti. --- more later ----
