A CROSSOVER ALLIANCE ANTHOLOGY

CONCEPT ART - NOT FINAL COVER DESIGN

DIVORCE

Divorce is hard. Regardless of what side of a divorce that you fall on, the dismantling of a relationship affects more than just the two people involved. The pain and destruction that comes from the severing of a bond that only marriage can craft is hard to fathom, and sometimes even harder to explain.

BROKEN is an anthology that will focus on fictional stories of divorce. We are looking for divorce-centered stories that showcase the devastating effects of divorce, reconciliation in divorce, healing after divorce, and/or everything in between.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If your story is accepted, you will receive ongoing royalties in exchange for one-time publishing rights. We will not ask for exclusive rights for anthology stories.

We pay royalties based on the number of stories submitted. The Crossover pays 50% of royalties to the authors of our anthology stories, with that 50% split among the number of stories. If ten stories make it into our anthology, then that 50% royalty will be split ten ways.

Each author accepted into the anthology will receive one complimentary copy of the anthology once it is published, and a 25% discount on future author copies if ordered from The Crossover Alliance.

Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2024.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please read these Submission Guidelines very carefully. You are responsible for making sure your manuscript is submitted within these guidelines. If it is not, there is a good chance we will deny it without even reviewing it.

These Submission Guidelines are for anthology submissions ONLY. For general submissions, head to our Submissions page.

Details about our submission process:

  • The Crossover Alliance accepts physical and digital submissions. If you are interested in sending a physical submission, please send an email to anthology@thecrossoveralliance.com for our mailing address.

  • You will receive an email confirming that we have received your submission.

  • Please read About Us for an understanding of what type of work we are looking for.

  • We DO NOT accept AI-crafted material.

  • Do not submit a query for an unfinished story.

  • We do accept previously published/self-published stories as long as you currently own the rights to those stories.

  • Submissions can be emailed to anthology@thecrossoveralliance.com, addressing Mr. David Alderman. Please include DIVORCE ANTHOLOGY SUBMISSION and the title of your novel/novella in the subject line of your email.

  • There is no minimum word count requirement for short stories. Our word count maximum for short stories is 12,000 words. If the word count of your novella exceeds 12,000 words, you might want to consider submitting it as a standalone short story through our general submission guidelines.

  • Submissions should have a Christian theme and may fall within a variety of different genres.

  • All submissions may include ‘edgy’ and mature content, so long as that content is used responsibly toward the story and not for the sheer intention of making the piece ‘edgy’. We have the final say in whether a piece is edgy for the wrong or right reasons.

  • All submissions should hold to central Christian doctrines, and all authors submitting should hold to central Christian doctrines. Central Christian Doctrines are defined as such: the Trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, the work of Christ on the cross, and salvation by grace through faith. Submissions that do not hold to these central Christian doctrines will be denied.

  • We retain the right to refuse any piece for any reason we see fit.

Please send us a submission package containing:

  • A cover letter which includes your name, the title of your story, and a brief bio telling us who you are and what your interests are. Be personable and give us a good idea of who you are as a person, not just a writer.

  • A brief synopsis telling us what your story is about, who some of the characters are, and if this is a standalone story or attached to a series. Please also give us an explanation of what makes your story Christian.

  • Your ENTIRE short story. Read below for formatting requirements.

Please make sure your manuscript submission is formatted as such in a double-spaced Microsoft Word (or Word readable) document:

  • Your font should be a clear and simple one, such as Courier or Times New Roman, size 12 or equivalent.

  • Indent your paragraphs

  • Have page breaks between chapters

  • Include page numbers

  • Do not include a space between paragraphs
