It was close to two years ago that Mark Carver, one of the founding supporters of The Crossover Alliance, mentioned to me that we (all of us authors specializing in edgy Christian speculative fiction) should put together a short story anthology. At the time, the very idea of turning The Crossover Alliance into an actual publishing company wasn't even on the horizon, and putting together a short story anthology seemed like a fairly simple task considering I had been self-publishing my own books for years prior to the suggestion.
We announced the anthology, gathered and read the submissions, and put out the paperback and digital versions in September of 2014. The book didn't skyrocket to the bestsellers charts, but that wasn't really the point. The point was to put together a collection of stories specializing in this new type of Christian fiction more or less to prove that this type of fiction has merit in both Christian and secular communities.
Fast forward to now. At the end of this month - on the 28th to be exact - The Crossover Alliance (publishing company) will be publishing a new edition of the anthology as its first catalog entry.
It's hard to believe how far all of this has come, to be honest. Years ago it started with a tiny little community of authors/readers who wanted more in their Christian fiction than just altar calls and two-dimensional characters. It's exploded into a publishing company, one that will be putting out 9 books this first year.
Here's a sneak peek at the cover for the new edition of the anthology. For those of you who have supported us from the beginning - thank you! And for those of you just coming on board - welcome! We're about to go where no publishing company has gone before.
